SWOT and SMART Objectives

We discussed the importance of adhering to uniform policy during the external placement and during sessions in clinical simulation  centre. The trainee nursing associates have professional responsibility to comply with the policy in accordance with NMC Code of practice. Also, ordered uniforms for all the students.

We looked at SWOT and SMART goals which are two powerful tools that enables us to measure and track our professional objectives in a timely manner. This is especially useful when writing our assignments.

We conducted practice learning in the clinical simulation room. We practised how to check patient vital signs such as Oxygen saturation level, pulse, and respiratory rate. The respiratory rate is a key vital sign to detect early changes when monitoring or investigating unwell patient.

During the practical nursing skills session, we practiced on each other and manikins to take the vital signs such as respiratory rate, pulse rate and oxygen saturation. These vital signs measurements are important aspect of patient’s assessment.

As a trainee nursing associate, the skills that I learnt to today will help me during the placement while enhance my confident and I will be able to apply the skills in the clinical setting.

NMC & 6Cs

We had a tour at the library and met the library staff who show different areas of library and provided us information and sources that are necessary for our course. We also looked at all the relevant information about theory hour log and tripartite meeting form.

NMC & 6Cs

We discussed the importance to comply with the NMC Code of conduct and relevance of the 6Cs. The NMC Code is there to protect the public by making sure all their registrants deliver high standard of care to their patients.

The Code sets out standards of education, practice and conduct. Registered nurses, midwifes and nursing associates are expected comply with the Code. These professionals are responsible for their behaviors’ and action.  The Code contains four themes: prioritise people, practice effectively, preserve safety and promote professionalism and trust.

The 6Cs are the key principle that guides nursing practice and plays a crucial role for provide high quality and patient centred care. These 6Cs are defined as: care compassion, communication competent, courage and commitment.

As trainee nursing associate it’s important that I understand the standards NMC Code practice and to comply with it as well as the 6Cs and their importance in nursing.

Cells Systems and Homeostasis

Today we looked at the introduction of the anatomy and the physiology of the systems, cells as well as homeostasis. We learnt anatomical position, hierarchy for organization of life and different types of cells and their characteristics as well as homeostasis.

I will have better understanding how different systems of the body work together and the importance to maintain stable internal environment to sustain normal cell function, despite changes in external conditions.

This involve regulating several physiological parameters, such as temperature, pH, hydration, and electrolyte balance to ensure optimal functioning of cells and systems within human body. I will have enhanced understanding of what is going on inside someone’s body such as spiking temperature and hopefully have more confidence.

Introduction VARK learning style.

SURETY SOLAR

Group presentation, working as a team and delivering presentation in class.

Introduction VARK learning style is a questionnaire to identify an individual learning style. SURETY SOLAR reading and critiquing research articles to assess the quality of data presented.

During the group presentations, we learnt about the importance of professionalism, accountability, and teamwork as well as NMC code of conduct. We also learnt about the role of nursing associate. We also expanded on our critical thinking skills with regards to reading and critiquing research articles to assess the quality of the data presented.

Everything that was presented will provide the foundation required to as a nursing associate and will provide me all the necessary skills and knowledge to be built with further learning and training, ultimately enabling me with means to provide high standard and people centred care to all patient under my care.

Today we looked at the programme overview and the requirement of an apprenticeship which provides all the necessary information about the trainees nursing associate course as well as the main requirement that needed to be met to qualify as nursing associate. We also looked at the importance of time management, adult learning, and code. We also learnt the importance of reflection in nursing in general. We learnt how to use Moodle so that we can access all the course information and materials.

Everything that I learnt, will provide the foundation required to practice as nursing associate and it will enable me to better understand the importance of self-reflection. We discussed the importance of reflection and process that assist you to review a personal experience and then learn from it. Reflecting of what you have leant vital for self-improvement as it can build my confident to become more competence which will enable me to provide high standard of to the patients.
