day 4 to 7

day 4 : the day went quick I was doing a lot of admin  in the morning

question that came to mind is how much admin and budgeting goes into make sure staff get paid and children have a space to go to after school and on Saturdays. once it reached the afternoon i was told that I should set up for the session most of the time the staff put out small activities to give children a focus once they come in it isn’t a fixed activity that  must be complete this time I brought out some PVA glue, newspapers, magazines and a massive sheet of paper. The first few children that arrived used the material that where there on but after a few min they moved on and started to get other pieces from the storeroom.

it was quite a full day we had 21 children coming in and out of the space some wanted to play outside some wanted to build a mini house in the back room with old pieces of wood and some wanted to paint it the time went so quickly that I didn’t realise that it was time for the children to leave and go home until a parent came to pick up there child.

day 5: day five was another slow day we didn’t have many children and I spend most of my time with some of the older children that come to art block. we sat in the back room where most of the older children like to go and chat I connected my phone to the speakers and the children requested song to listen to in we discussed our favourite music group some of the small children came in and started a dance competition which continued on for a few minutes the day came to an end quite quickly.

day 6: I started my day at the main gallery and not in art block today we where going to be meeting with a year 7 group the workshop was being lead by an artist the teachers that had arrived at stepped back and allowed the artist to take control they started there workshop in this workshop the Artist came in and talked about patriotism – belonging – do the children feel they belong in this country – they did this through looking at national anthem and writing their own national anthem. Played a game – would you rather?( focusing on countries) Made their own flags. Artist went to school to finish off the workshops.
day 7: this was they day I worked with teachers and artist who are doing there masters. this was a lovely experience especially hearing about there experience with children engagement to art. this happen in the evening after the gallery closed ad was done by one of staff from the education team.

day 1 to 3

day 1 – it was a slow start to the day I was given keys that mostly team leaders receive however because I was going to need access to different spaces at different times I would need the and introduced to the people I would be working with I then helped organise some of the thing that we would be using on at the off site community outreach space which I will refer to as art-block.

day 2 I started my day at art block organising the art supply room which children are allowed to enter and take any supplies that they need I need to make a list of the basic thing that we where missing and then in the afternoon at the beginning or at any time ask some of the children what material they would like. most of the request where for more wood. more balls, fabric, rope and many more.
question: that came to mind during this session as it was a quite day because school had just started and the shop was closed for the holiday is this place open enough?

day 3 workshops: Artist came in and talked about patriotism – belonging – do the children feel they belong in this country – they did this through looking at national anthem and writing their own national anthem. Played a game – would you rather? Made their own flags. Artist went to school to finish off the workshops.

Children started to talk about whether they ‘belong’ and would they stay if they had the opportunity to go somewhere else. Do they feel accepted.
