Reflection on this topic is an interesting one. Understanding the reproductive system of the male and female organs, structure, and their functions in detail. Able to label the male and female organs. The external female genitalia with a bit of understanding of how the ovary functions and develops.  On a monthly basis, about 300-400 will be shed at ovulation. The reproductive cycle menstrual, proliferative phase, and secretory phase were discussed. Reflecting on this is vital to understand how our body system works. The female breast anatomy is not left out.

Furthermore, the growth and development of the children and young people was discussed. Understanding the different stages of growth from neonate 28 days to older adolescents 15-18 years. There are 5 stages of sexual maturity staging: Stage 1, 0- 15 yrs; stage 2, 8 – 15yrs; stage 3, 10 -15 yrs; stage 4, 10 -17 yrs; stage 5, 12 -18 yrs. Factors affecting growth were discussed, such as nutrition, environment, sex, hormones, genetics, drug/alcohol dependency and intrauterine growth. Understanding the developmental milestones, which are fine motor and vision, gross motor, hearing and speech and social behaviour, will help improve my skills in the field. More attention will be put on the difference between older children and young adults and young children’s breathing and respiratory to help me more.

In addition, we talked about emotional intelligence and resilience as the ability to understand and manage one’s own emotions as well as the emotions of others.
