IWB

Being hesitant about using the Interactive White Board before my block school experience 1, I was reluctant to having a go when I arrived in the classroom. However, I was taken back when I saw the ease with which my class teacher used the board. Surprisingly by the third day, I found myself getting more involved and using the board because it was not as difficult to use as I thought it would be. The impact of using the IWB to inform and support children’s learning cannot be overlooked, as it develops their understanding by having a visual representation and interpretation of learning. From the time when children walked into the classroom till home time, I was able to, in collaboration with the CT, use the IWB to support lessons in phonics, mathematics, R.E, understanding the world, arts and design and so on, through the use of various systems and programs like Expresso, Education City, and Penpals. The Interactive White Board, I have come to realise, has become a secured way of making learning as interactive as possible and which I have come to enjoy using. In my future practice, the IWB would be effectively used to support children’s learning and development.
