Professional Feedback – Year One
Epsom and St HelierĀ
Racquel is a good student as she’s always focused. She always asks questions when she’s unsure or curious about the situation which shows that she’s willing to learn at all times. I am a third year student and you would never think Racquel is first year as she seems to be very confident and has a lot of anatomy knowledge. It has been a pleasure working and learning with her and I wish her all the best in the future.
Springfield Insight Placement
Racquel has been a valuable member of our team for the last two weeks she has been working with us at Jupiter ward. She has engaged well with staff, patients and MDT. Racquel has been curious to learn and a proactive approach to work. I am confident Racquel will be an excellent nurse in the near future.
Princess Alice Hospice
- Racquel has settled into the ward routine and team. She has worked well with different members of staff. She has been able to create and use learning opportunities and is always willing to expand her skills and knowledge. She is liked by the patients who have given her positive feedback. She is able to provide holistic care. She has participated in administering medications and setting up syringe pumps. She has spent time with Multi disciplinary team in ward rounds, admission meetings and other meetings and with individual members of the team learning from their expertise. Her communication skills are developing. She must now focus on being more confident and able to handover a group of patients. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your training.
- I have worked several shifts with Racquel. Racquel is very caring, showing kindness and considerations to her patients. She is keen to gain as much experience as she can on this placement. I wish Racquel all the best in her nursing career.
- Access Visit completed on the 16th March 2021 Purpose of the visit was to review patients home environment to support discharge planning. Racquel joined Sarah Scoble Occupational Therapist (OT),patients husband and sister on visit. Throughout the visit Racquel demonstrated an approachable ,mature and professional manner, which helped to put both husband and sister at ease. Racquel showed ,through her questions that she asked and her non-verbal communication that she was really interested in the patient’s situation and her life story. This showed good understanding around how to adapt your approach to the family that you are working alongside. It was really important for the husband/sister to feel that we tried to get sense of who the patient was as a person. They appeared to enjoy and took comfort in telling stories, this helped the calming what was understandably a very difficult visit, as although keen to support patients wishes to return home, there were significant anxieties. Through conversation Racquel showed great insight into the situation, picking up that it is not just around talking about what support, equipment needed and where it will be located, but also around what that signifies for the person and those supporting them. Racquel demonstrated good listening skills through out. Racquel appeared interested in the role of the OT on the ward and how access visits supported discharge planning, we talked through what happens after the access and all the other MDT members that would be involved in discharge conversations. It was a pleasure to have Racquel on the visit and I know the family enjoyed it as well.
