Title of Learning Activity: Introduction to reflection and Professionalism, Accountability and NMC code.
During my induction, i was introduced to the key principles of the NMC Code (2018) prioritising people, preserving safety, and promoting professionalism and trust. the session emphasised how these principles guide nursing practice, ensuring accountability and professionalism in delivering compassionate and evidence based care through discussion and examples, i need to prioritised patient’s dignity with the multidisciplinary team. by adhering to the NMC code i can build trust with patients and colleagues, and communicating effectively with patients and family.
This induction highlighted the critical role of the NMC code in shaping professional conduct and decision making. it made me realise that being accountable extends beyond following instructions it involves understanding and rationale behind every action and ensuring it aligns with ethical and professional standards. for instance when delivering care, i need to prioritise patients dignity and safety while ensuring effective communication with the multidisciplinary team. by adhering to the NMC Code, i can build trust with patients and colleagues , which is essential for providing high quality care.
I will actively apply the principles of the NMC Code in my daily practice. i plan to regularly reflect on my actions to ensure they align with reflective cycle (1988) professionalism, and accountability. I will seek feedback from colleagues and mentors to identify areas for improvement. to deepen my understanding, i will engage in ongoing learning about ethical decision making and professional values, ensuring I grow as a competent and compassionate Nursing associate in the future.
