Reflection on Learning Activity (include model of reflection e.g. Driscoll or Gibbs):
On today’s session we were discussing:
NMC Code, Professionalism and values.
We found out, that NMC Code has been updated in 2018.The reason for updating The NMC Code was the new Healthcare professional, added to the nursing fields called, Nursing Associate.
We defined four principles of NMC Code, such us:
– Practice effectively (communicate, work as a team)
– Prioritise people (putting people first, treat them with respect, dignity and compassion)
– Preserve safety (Duty of Candour, understand limitation)
– Promote professionalism and Trust
We discussed the 6Cs such us:
- Care
- Compassion
- Competence
- Communication
- Courage
- Commitment
During our session we promote British Values such us:
- Respect the culture, beliefs of others
- We know that we are special
- We treat everyone equally
- We understand right from wrong
- We try to help others
- We listen and respect other’s opinion
- We understand the consequences of our action
- We respect the role of people who help us
This session helped me to defined and understand the meaning of:
- 6Cs,
- The NMC Code
- Professionalism
I strongly encourage others and myself to:
- To be professional, respectful and mindful at workplace, when dealing with patients. As we are there for them, to support public needs and respect them at many stages.
- To be aware of strong power of social media. Some type of activities posted on social media can destroyed our career and reputation of our profession. Can easily destroyed trust which nation always had towards Public or Healthcare workers.
- Do not abuse your power over the patient, who put a lot of trust in us and their lives in our hands. Hoping, that we will be able to help them in many ways or in many life aspects.
We also discussed System, Cells and Homeostasis. The aim of this session was to give an overview of the body system, types of cells and defined the meaning of homeostasis.
By the end of the session each participant was able to:
- Recognise an anatomical position
- Identify different types of cells
- Define homeostasis
- Named Body fluids
- Recognise the normal body temperature range (36.9 – 37.9)
Attending each session at Roehampton University gives me a very strong courage to do well at workplace and keep expanding my knowledge and skills, serving our nation. Being competent, respectful and compassionate about work which I do on the daily bases, providing an excellent care for NHS Patients.
