Diary of Learning activity
Title of learning activity: Cells, Systems and Homeostasis.
Today I had another lecture recalling module ‘Cells Systems and Homeostasis’. I focused at more medical jargon regarding anatomical position, positional terms, body cavities and regions. I recalled levels of organisation in our body from chemical level (atoms, molecule), to many cellular level (e.g. organelle, smooth muscle cell), to many tissue level (for example smooth muscle tissue), to many organ level (for example blood vessels), to many organ system level (for example cardiovascular system) for organismal level (for example human organism). It reminded me of the chemical reactions and physical responses that take place in our body. I realised how complicated is moving from one structure of chemical level to the cellular level, and how important is to understand trillions of cells in our body and move further to help maintain homeostasis balanced. I know that my knowledge is still chaotic and that I moved far from one to another. The cells as a basic units of life when pair in group with similar structure and similar functions working together as tissues. After that some structures composition of tissues that perform specific function what contributes to the creation of an organ. Moving further meny organs working closely together to help maintain life reactions are making up to organ systems (e.g. the stomach, small and large intestines are all organs of the digestive system – cooperate closely to digest food, move nutrients into the blood and remove waste). Combination of many organ systems – of course closely working together – they form one efficient organism – individually living.
I can say that is so nicely combined, perfectly made up. And as I wrote before Homeostasis is balancing processes in biological organism to maintain stability when some changes from inside or outside happening (e.g. pH, fluid levels, body temperature, glucose levels etc.).
KSBs addressed:
K11: Understand the factors that may lead to inequalities in health outcomes.
K16: Understand body systems and homeostasis, human anatomy and physiology, biology, genomics, pharmacology, social and behavioural sciences as applied to delivery of care.

Title of learning activity: Introduction to the module. Developing professional values and behaviour, Introduction to the NMC Code, the 6 C’s.
This afternoon I was introduced to module ‘Developing professional and academic skills for nursing associates – NRS020C112H’.
Developing professional values and behaviours is fundamental to the Nursing Associate role and each clinical role because I need to realise what is wright or what is wrong in every day patient’s care. NMC made the NMC Code and standardise the values which are required in the UK to protect the Public. As a Nursing Associate I am responsible to behave professionally by following rules of the NMC Code, and practising the 6 Cs of Nursing (Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage and Commitment). NA is making sure that every patient is cared with respect, kindness, compassion, and the practice is safe and effective. Thanks to this, NA manage to increase patients confidence and uphold public trust to healthcare professionals. The guidelines support reflective practice, ongoing education, commitment to common standards and can lead to deliver significant, person-centred care.
I acknowledge as a resident of UK that I am obligate to promote British Values ( in particular mutual respect & tolerance, rule of law, individual liberty and democracy), and realise that all of this values are prolonged in NMC Code.
As an honest person I have to boost professionalism and trust, to be aware of consequences or influences of others and act as a role model within the law. I need to learn a lot, obtain the necessary skills and acquire certain attitudes to become professional NA representing NMC and build trust to health profession.
KSBs addressed:
K1: Understand the Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates (NMC, 2018), and how to fulfil all registration requirements.
S1: Act in accordance with the Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates (NMC, 2018), and fulfil all registration requirements
S2: Keep complete, clear, accurate and timely records.
S4: Take responsibility for continuous self-reflection, seeking and responding to support and feedback to develop professional knowledge and skills.
