Concluding Thoughts

To conclude my reflection on this course and my chosen career pathway, I have found this course interesting, and I have gained knowledge that I will bring with me into my future career as a physio. As I do not have a psychology undergrad degree and have chosen to not continue my psychology journey and become a sports psychologist, I have found some of the topics within the course inapplicable to me. However, I have enjoyed the lectures that have been of relevance to my chosen career pathway and have learnt various approaches, mental skills strategies, various settings to work within, and be reminded of the importance of ethical guidelines within your profession.

I have been unsure on what career pathway I want to undertake. Doing this E-portfolio assignment have forced me to investigate what options I have and reflect on what I really want to do. My first thoughts were to continue with stage 2 of sports psychology, but as the sports psychology accreditation in the UK is not approved in Norway, I decided to put that on hold and rather continue with my career within physiotherapy combined with the knowledge and experience gained from this course. If I were to do this assignment again, I would probably have done more research regarding what job options is out there as a physio with a masters within sports and exercise psychology.

Through this assignment, I have used the Gibb’s reflective cycle (Gibbs, 1988) which is another important skill to be reminded of. I have learned that reflecting on yourself and the work you do is important for professional growth and development.
