Week 2: Atomium and The Dysfunctional Urban Family.

Ok, so I realised at the end of my first week that comically I have made a big mistake with how much I have written. I was aiming for 500 words a day minimum, when in actual fact it was 500 words minimum…per month. I mean technically, I wasn’t wrong, but I may have gone a little over the top. Therefore, I shall now condense my entries down a little to entire week summaries and maybe the odd longer and extra post here and there. This week, I had my mum and Nan leave on the Monday, but we managed to get to the Atomium with our return ticket from the tour bus the day before. I was pretty cool, but very rushed as we only had the tickets for a little while. There was a crazy steep escalator with flashing lights and noises which neither me nor my mum liked at all, but we had to go down to leave! My mum closed her eyes pretty much the whole way down…as did I.

I had a meeting at the university and met my first official who was in charge of ensuring the parameters I have in place in London to help with my mental illness and Irlen syndrome, are continued over here as best as possible. I went to a party hosted by Brussels Gay Sports which was hilarious and by far the most fun out I have had yet. I am not really the type of person who normally goes out, but I went on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed myself; I even stayed out till about 4.30 am…which for me is unheard of! I finished this week with the first big gay brunch I have ever had and it was great! Nixon did a spread of lots of pastries and salads and the DUF (Dysfunctional Urban Family as Nixon calls it) all came around for the day, which was really nice. I can really feel like I am making some wonderful friends here.
