Having a brief break down of what to expect for this module was incredibly useful as it allows me to see and understand what will be expected of me and my peers. Questing what university is for and what it really means was very interesting and raised some interesting thought. It was interesting to note that out of the five of us, we all had very different ideas of what university is meant for, and what it means to go to university. It was interesting to highlight the differences between modern day thoughts from students and what was deemed to be the more appropriate focus of university education as we went further back in history. Some ideas were that it increases our ability and knowledge in the work place, even that it is necessary in certain job roles to have gained that extra experience and knowledge from university. Sebastian then posed the question, “Why is it important for us to be educated at a higher level, and is it only a deeper understanding of knowledge that we go to university for?” re-thinking about this question I am not overly sure if in the modern day people come to university primarily for the education, but more so due to the global economic status. The increase of unemployment and the cost of living both having an effect on the issues young people are facing once out of education.
