Group Discussion for presentation on accountability

Today we went back through our reflection and discussed any concerns we had, from the day before. It was reassuring to know that we all had mainly the same concerns. We had a group discussion and were put into groups for professionalism, accountability and the NMC code. Our group was given accountability and we worked as a team to make a presentation for the class, we worked well as a team but I felt that there was certain people who had a stronger voice than others. This has encouraged me in the future to have confidence to put forward my opinions and views. The presentation highlighted how all three subjects merge into one and how they are a key aspect in Nursing, reminding me to be mindful when using them competently.

How to read a paper – Soler to Surety

In the afternoon we were shown how to read a SOLER TO SURIETY paper and I found it confusing with regards to the referencing and how to use it correctly. I learnt that it is important to read the abstract as it gives you a brief but comprehensive definition of the papers content.  I will research and ask colleagues for any ideas, on how to use this system. I will utilise the library to help with how to use the proper route of referencing. We have a planned tour of the library on Thursday, which we allow me to ask these questions and gain information.

Introduction to VARK

VARK was introduced to us and we had a group discussion to see how we learn, I enjoyed this part of the learning as I learnt I was a reading/writing and kinaesthetic learner.  I will use this route of learning to the best of my abilities to learn and gain knowledge.

Learning log day one 16/09/24

Introduction to N/A programme and Moodle and Eportfolios

Today we met our Cohort of 2024 and had introductions around the group to get a knowledge and understanding of each of our backgrounds and previous experiences within Care. We had an introduction to using Moodle and Eportfolios, which I found complicated and am still finding confusing. I will need to research and practice on how to use the platform competently, I will ask colleagues and Colin for support including any hints on how to use it.

Introduction to Adult learning and managing time

We had a discussion on Adult learning and time management, working in pairs to think of the positive and negative effects of studying as a child compared to adult learning. A discussion was then had between the class and on the affects it has, with some interesting and expected answers. I thick this has helped us to build a rapport and support each other by offering different perspectives on the subject. It has taught me how to think outside the box and see how others perceive situations.

The discussion had on time management appeared to be a big concern within the group, relating to how it would be possible to balance work and home life. The group discussion appeared to offer positive ideas and support for any concerns I had. I will implement the ideas offered and be mindful of the concerns highlighted. To end we had a discussion on the KSB, and how we implement them on our learning log to show the importance of how our work contributes to the standards of the Nursing associate course.
