Record of Achievement
I gained knowledge in STI and RTI, their differences, transmission pathways, testing and diagnosis.
I gained knowledge of different testing pathways and understand the limitation of testing availability in some countries as they may only have limited labs and facilities to process microscopy specimens due to poverty. People are not well educated and have no awareness of STI and RTI.
I also gained knowledge of the awareness of administrating antibiotics.
In my future practice, I need to be more aware of gathering information from pregnant women, with respect and dignity, explore their concerns and educate them and their partners’ prevention of STI. Provide information regarding STI and RTI. If an assessment is needed, with further training, working under supervision, and acquiring enough skills and competence, I need to ensure correctly don my universal precautions, apply antiseptic and non-touching techniques, and ensured the equipment is all sterilised.
Educating and bringing awareness of STI and RTI to patients and their partners, which is incorporated with the NMC code preserve safety and also promotes sexual health and wellbeings.
