BSE1

During BSE1 I was not able to see or teach any Computing sessions as they took place during my PPA time. On the bright side, I made use of Ipads many times in the classroom. For example, during a maths lesson we took the Ipads outside to take pictures of all the different lines the children could spot (parallel, perpendicular, right angles etc.) We also used them in science for the children to do further research on what they wanted to find out about forces and magnets which was useful for their research skills.

Moreover, the school made good use of Ipads as part of their ‘RM MATHS’ intervention in which some children took part in every morning before the school day had started. They also ran an Ipad club once a week.

IWB

This was a really fun session on the use of interactive whiteboards in the classroom! We were given the opportunity to play with and create our own engaging activities using the SMART Notebook software which has more functions than I thought it had. Although I was not very successful in using these functions I was still able to create a learning resource for a science lesson on the different food groups, and sorting these. However, I have now downloaded the Smart Notebook onto my device so that I can improve my IWB skills.

I definitely look forward to discovering more ways to using this technology effectively in my practice!
