Powtoon

• Develop the children’s knowledge of Road safety through a visual story of the dangers the road poses.
• Children understand what to do and not to when they are using the road as a pedestrian

Scratch

• Children to finish of the creation of the game. Once completed the children must  guide the character on screen, avoiding the oncoming  cars.

Midway through the animation, pause the video and ask the children what the character should have done differently to ensure that they stayed safe from the cars. Continue the animation to see if the children were right.

After the animation get the children to discuss what they already to do themselves to ensure they are safe on the road as pedestrians.

• Introduce the game on the interactive whiteboard.
• Ensure children are playing the right game and understand the on-screen instructions.

Think about what they would have done differently in situations as they watch the clip.

After the first section has finished the children should then discuss in a pair what they would do differently and then feedback to the rest of the class.

• Test the children’s memory and knowledge of what they have learned over the previous two weeks from the activities.
• Identify areas of learning which could be further developed in future lessons if it arises.
