Diabetes reflection and certificate
As part of my simulated placement, I undertook a day of diabetes management. I have had sessions on diabetes management in the past as part of my learning with Roehampton University. However, as we learn so much within a short time at university, it was really nice to have a refresher and a longer period of time of learning with a diabetes specialist in the community. I found the experience very beneficial and learnt in depth the different stages of diabetes and how symptom deterioration is reflective of each stage and what happens if symptoms are left untreated. I feel this session gave me a deeper understanding into the seriousness of diabetes and the vital importance of people diagnosed with diabetes following a healthy lifestyle and using preventative measures, recommendations and screening plans, as symptoms are often non-reversable and are most likely to deteriorate within a point of time. Although I really enjoyed the diabetes management session, it would have been nice to go through the different types of insulin pens to refresh my memory and also practicing giving an insulin injection in fruit. As an action plan, I have great notes from the session that I will continue to revise to consolidate my learning of diabetes management.Essentials of leg alcerationEssentials of digital wound imagingNutrition and lifestyle considerations
