Introduction to my placement

The placement I undertook was in a nursery. placement has been a learning experience and opportunity which I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge from shadowing teachers and interacting with children. gaining an insight of the daily routines, layouts of nursery, interactions has allowed me to embed on my knowledge.

During my time at placement, I have thoroughly enjoyed it and gained a lot of o knowledge and see how children think. child-led activities play a huge part in settings as it allows children to take control. during my placement, I had observed that some children like to be the leader of the activity, therefore, them wanting to be in charge and ahead of others. this can cause conflict as other children may want to have a turn but the child may be adamant to carry on. this is where an adult will need to step in to make sure all children are having turns and swapping roles with their peers.

Physical play is the first and most frequently occurring expression of play in young children (Hutt and others 1989). this allows children to socially develop with peers and adults. children learn through play which allows them to develop their learning holistically.

A parental partnership is an aspect of early childhood practice which I will be focusing on throughout my presentation. Parents are the prime educators at first until the child begins to go to nursery or schools. Play in a setting encourages and promotes children learning through various activities.

Placement has given me an opportunity to shadow teacher and they have allowed me to carry out focus activity group which I found interesting as I was gaining knowledge of what the teachers and practitioners do in order to observe children.

Professionalism is a huge impact in settings as children look up to teachers and practitioners. Setting good professionalism skills to adhere to children’s knowledge and encourage children’s learning and development.
