My reflections prior to placement

My reflections prior to my placement have allowed me to gain an understanding of the roles and responsibilities in my setting. professionalism is vital in a setting of making a good impression on the setting and children.

Day 1

On my first day on placement, i was feeling nervous and anxious as I was going into a new setting and new people. although I have worked previously with children I was confident in interacting with the children. however, on the first day, I was told to sign in at reception and I was given an induction and shown around the classroom. I was introduced to the teachers and children. being introduced had made me more comfortable in the setting and I was engaging with he children. I was explained what the routine of the day was and I was helping teachers and practitioners set up the room and supervising the children with other teachers.

Day 2

On my second day I was more familiar with my setting routine, however, I was still a little bit nervous as I only attend one day a week which resulted in the children and practitioners and teachers not seeing me much.  on my second day, i was interacting with children more and I was reading stories to children, making houses using boxes and other resources, helping teachers and practitioners set up the classroom, engaging in carpet time where children would do their mathematics and literacy. practitioners promote children earning and development through various resources and trying to make activities fun and engaging.

Day 3

on my third day, I was more confident in me being in the setting as I was more familiar with the children and the practitioners. I was interacting with children in different areas of where they were playing. I was given the opportunity to lead focus group where I was observing children whilst doing an activity with them. this allowed me to gain knowledge of how focus groups are recorded and shared with parents. parent partnership plays a huge role as the teacher and parent are able to exchange information regarding the child and how well they are doing, what they need additional help with and what is a concern for them. communication between parents and practitioners allow them to focus on the child to see how they are progressing.

Day 4

on my fourth day, I was excited as I was learning new things every week which had encouraged me and made me feel more motivated to help children learn and progress. I was getting more familiar with the children and I was forming bonds and interacting with children. I was given the opportunity to lead focus activities with a different activity. this helped me boost my confidence and interact with the children more allowing them to explain to me what we were doing in the activity.

Day 5

On day 5, I was helping the practitioner set up activities based on the theme they were looking at this week. Also, i was helping practitioners support children in their learning and helping children communicate. I was comfortable in engaging with the children during there play and interacting with them.

Day 6

my final day of placement was enjoyable as I had great fun in being part of children learning experiences and it has been a great learning opportunity for myself as I have gained a lot of knowledge from working alongside teachers and practitioners. The children had shown an interest in activities which i was encouarging children further. overall, placement has been a great experiene and allowed me to gaina  lot of knowledge
