Today we looked at social determinants of health and cultural influences. Epidemiology and demographics work together it looks at the population and disease occurs in different groups in the population. Questions asked are
1: What is the health problem?
2: How common is it?
3: When does the concern occur?
4:Where does it occur?
5: Who is affected?
6: Why does it occur?
7: What could be done to deal with the issue?
8: Did the measures put in place make a difference?
9: What else could be done?
In the afternoon we looked at oxygen therapy and completed a skills session in the ward looking at the pulse oximeter and the different equipment used to measure oxygen and pulse. We then look at different ways oxygen can be administered and when to give oxygen which should be prescribed unless in an emergency.
