Today we looked at smoking and alcohol in relation to health promotion; how smoking affects the body and why people smoke. We looked at the safe alcohol intake levels and what is classed as excess drinking and how we can educate patients on these topic as Every contact counts.
We then went onto child safeguarding and looked at case studies on failings for child abuse. As health professionals we can come across children and we need to know the signs and red flags for potential abuse and neglect.
In the afternoon we worked in groups and discussed the types of care we deliver in our work places and how they differ from one setting to the next. This gave us an insight of how care differs.
