Promote professionalism and trust

Your reflection

Ensure confidentiality is maintained.

Under the NMC cord of conduct, to promote professionalism and trust, you must uphold the reputation of your professionalism at all time. It would be best if You displayed a personal commitment to the standards of practice and behaviour set out in the cord. It would help if You were a model of integrity and leadership for others to aspire to. This should lead to trust and confidence in the profession from patients, people receiving care, other health and care professional and public.

During my placement in the community I promote professionalism and trust at all time. Another evidence of promoting professionalism and trust is making sure am also on time and punctual at all time and work within the boundaries, and never ask for or accept loans from anyone in your care or anyone close to them. I had the opportunity to visit a patient house who has diabetes type 2 to administer insulin to the patient under the supervision of my practice assessor. I introduce my self to patient and gained consent, I then explained my reason of being there, after administering the insulin to the patient he ask me if I could make him cup of tea which I did, the patient was happy by the professionalism which I gave him. The patient offered me can of drink for the care. I told the patient is against my profession to accept gift from a patient. He was unhappy but when I explained to him and he was very impressed with my manner and professionalism.
