How can I Build on my strengths?

This is one of my strengths and this enables me to communicate effective with my colleague nurses, other health professionals and patients. Having played the role of a leader and a supervisor in practice, this enabled me to communicate clearly and concisely with patients, which is very critical in healthcare delivery and by doing it this often, I hope to build on it.

The level of empathy and compassion I exhibit in the process of discharging my responsibilities have contributed to building strong relationships with patients and the team I work with. Working with more experienced nurses and other healthcare professionals will certainly enable me to build on my strengths.

I possess the ability to think of my feet and find solutions successfully to issues when they occur. I am adept at problem solving, which is crucial as a nurse in a position of leadership or supervisor in practice. Being in an environment that requires me to quickly think on my feet and come up with solutions to problems will enable me to build on this strength.

How can I Eliminate the weaknesses?

I need to work on getting the balance right in terms of the amount of work I take on during my placement in order to over burnout and maintaining or improving the quality of care and leadership.

The aim is to hone my experience in leadership as thisgives you the confidence to handle complex situations. I’ve made a conscious effort to learn from some of the best in the field, especially during my placements. I’m developing my own leadership style that will enable me to problem solve and handle complex situations.

How can I Exploit (make good use of) the opportunities?

I will take advantage of the different and diverse clinical experiences, leadership, and mentorship experiences I am privileged to have access to during the duration of my course. The exposure to different specialties in the field of healthcare will certainly enhance my clinical knowledge, leadership skills and versatility as an aspiring nurse.

I can exploit and take advantage of diverse clinical experiences in both theoretical and practical environment to hone and develop a well-rounded skill set. I will continue to learn from some of the best in this field.

My interaction and building a strong relationship with professionals in the field including nurses and colleagues can open up opportunities for me in terms of development, progression, guidance and more. It will also give me an insight into adopting and sharing best practices and to become a better leader.

How can I Face or reduce the threats?

Frequent changes in healthcare policies and regulations can have an impact on the way healthcare is delivered. For instance, it can be challenging for nursing students to quickly adapt.

The demands of the placements including long working hours, the emotional demands and challenging patient cases and juggling other person responsibilities can be very stressful. It causes burnout too. All these are significant threats as this can contribute to job dissatisfaction.
