Week 23 – Tutorials
Today I met with Seb and discussed my progress within the essay research and planning. We have decided that the best way to deal with my question is to look at archival evidence from pre-World War II, during the war and post-war, this will allow me to look at the transformative effect of the war period.
Regarding, looking for related scholarship, we discussed the limited availability of sources on female education and how this can form part of my essay.
I mentioned my difficulty in timetabling as to accessing the archives and said that I was really struggling with accessing the Whitelands archive, so will be altering my question to focus on Digby Stuart College. Also, I am going to discuss with the archivist if I can take photos of some of the evidence so that I can access it from home and remove some of the timetabling issues from the project. I will also need to discuss how to reference what is there with the archivist and Seb later once I have been to the archive again.
My next steps are to access the archives again with a more focused list of what I wish to look at and to have another meeting with Seb following some of my other module deadlines.
Overall my essay question is:
To what extent can the Second World war be considered a transformative period in relation to Digby Stuart College students and the curriculum they experienced.
