on my retrieval placement, I had a set of patients to look after one of which had a PEG tube. This patient was about to be discharged however, one of the requirements was that her husband had to be taught how to give her feeds (with supervision). As a student nurse, I had the opportunity to teach and supervise her husband. From this experience, I learned how to teach and provide constructive feedback to a patient relative. As a result I improved my practice by amending how I teach so that the individual can gain knowledge and practice safely and effectively. This relates to the NMC code practice effectively as I responded confidently and autonomously with supervision.
