Title of learning activity: Health and weel-being

Diary of Learning activity:

Today’s class started in time and due to the proximity to Christmas not all the cohort colleagues were there. The lecturer for the day was Paulette, even though the mood in general in class was slightly low she managed to run a very interesting and interactive lecture. The topic for the morning session was about promoting health for older people and the importance of physical activity. We discussed about the importance of aging and what can impact physical and mental health of individuals.  We all contributed sharing our experiences in our roles and was very pleasant because it is always interesting to get to know different point of view. The lesson stressed the importance of the activities that the community offers for the elderly. Via a group exercise we identified the challenges that elderly face on the day to day living and we worked together to identify how as nursing associates we can support. After Lunch we discussed how important physical activities are for the individuals in this age group and throughout the lifespan in general. Movement is key to keep the organism active and preserve it for longer. We also started to look at what the topic of next session will be. We identified who are the vulnerable group in life and started to touch base on the topic. It was very interesting especially because of Paulette’s experience on the field. So was very interesting to understand deeper about different vulnerable groups. The class overall was very good.
