Diary of Learning activity

During today’s class we started the lecture on time. It was a pleasure to start the day having a special lecturer. Maria the lecturer for a previous module in year 1 came back to run a session for us. It was a great pleasure to see her, because we all really enjoyed her teaching style. The module she thought us was understanding complex care and the topic was  mental health long term conditions and learning disabilities. We discussed different types of learning disabilities focusing on the concept of neurodiversity and how it links with learning disabilities. We also explored how learning disabilities affects the learning disability population. We look thoroughly on the different types of assessment used in practice to assess and diagnose this disabilities. I am thoroughly enjoying this classes because we learning about the different types of comorbidities, their pathophysiology, their consequences in people’s life and the remedy in use to control this problems. After a great morning session we had our lunch break and after we met Joicy. The topic for the afternoon session was respiratory long term conditions. We discussed about Asthma , COPD , Pulmonary embolism, CF. We discussed the pathophysiology, the remedies and the consequences of this issues on our patients. We look thoroughly into the causes of airway obstructions and the signs to quickly diagnose it.  We looked into the definitions of Type 1 and 2 respiratory failures. We look into oxygen administration and the respiratory support available for this types of patients. Afterall I thought that this session was very pleasant and formative and it has been a great opportunity to learn more about something new that I did not know before.
