Title of learning activity: Person centred care and shared decision making

Today’s class was the last session before starting our second clinical placement. We spent the all day with the lecturer Scott and we focused on the module Delivery of safe and effective care. The topic of the morning session was on clinical judgment and shared decision making. I thought it was a great session were we gained knowledge on how to use effectively our clinical judgment and implement this with the nursing process. It is always very good the fact that the class participates to the proposed activities sharing experiences learnt from their practices. This makes the learning process more interactive and it is very helpful to listen to different experiences. In this session Scott also explained the importance of shared decision making and stressed how vital it is to include patients on their care plan. After the lunch break we discussed the importance of Evaluating care. It has been a less interactive session this time, the topic required more theory and we all were involved in the class intervening and sharing experiences within the class. I thought was a great learning day and gave us more knowledge and structure to practice during our second clinical placement.
