My Learning Journey

dsc01110

I grew up on a beautiful Island in Atlantic Canada where I spent all summer at the beach and all winter at the ski hill. Sports were a huge part of my life and I loved getting out and trying new things.

When I started University I decided to go for a Kinesiology degree- the only thing I was interested in was physical activity! After the first few years of Uni my mother convinced me to continue on and get an Education degree. She thought being a PE teacher would be perfect for me…she was right!

I began teaching PE in Canada when I got bitten by the travel bug. I decided I wanted to go off and explore the world while I was still young! So I hopped on a plane and came to London; I didn’t get too far in the world tour but am happy to have found a home here in the UK. Whilst teaching at a primary school in Sutton, I had the opportunity to do some work with schools in Uganda and India. We delivered a CPD programme to the primary teachers in those schools. Those experiences were the catalyst for me making the move from the primary classroom to HE. I love working with people who are passionate about teaching…and it’s even better when they have a love for PE 🙂
