Week 3

11. February: In this week’s class, I came an hour late since I woke up with a migraine and tried to get rid of it before coming to class. When I came the rest of the class was walking around getting different directions from the teacher, so I just join what they were doing. walking in slow motions with different goals was harder than I thought. You have to focus on your whole body and keep in mind that every motion has to be done at the same speed. You cant walk in a slow speed and then move your hands our face at a faster speed. So think about how the whole body has to work together was interesting and educational for further research into this performance. We also had to start thinking about how we wanted to contribute to the production. I have always been into the acting aspect of a performance, but I was also thinking of joining both the costume group and help with giving directions in some scenes. Since starting this degree I have opened my eyes to both the writing and directing aspect of performance. Before last year I had never done anything else but acting when it comes to theatre. Acting will always be my passion, but this last semester I have realized that I could do so much more in the theatre industry besides acting.

This is a photo of two of my classmates trying out the scene of the girl. In this week’s rehearsal, we worked together to try to stage and perform the first scene in The Water Station. Some of us tried out this scene at normal speed first as we read through the directions. After performing the scene in a normal speed we started working with the 6 feet per 5 minute and we ended up using 11 minutes for performing the scene.
