I thought you made some strong points Carolin. Especially with the clips of different men expressing their views on women in politics showing how narrow minded many men still are. I also find it surprising how many women are in college and yet there are still so few women involved in politics around the globe. What suggestions or ideas do you have regarding how young people can change this reality of women in politics to increase the number so the representation is more equal?
Hi Andrew!
I am glad you enjoyed my Vlog. I understand your surprise – the difference is huge! When I’ve read the numbers during my research, they shocked me as well. Even though I was already aware of the low numbers! Thank you for your comment, I think you have pointed out an excellent question. I don’t think there is one universal solution to equal representation, but many ways to take steps in the right direction. Of course, a lot of things can be tackled through politics (voting, petitioning, protests), but also smaller, more personal steps can be effective. Calling out a sexist comment, for example, will stop the normalisation of such behaviour, which will have an impact on all women and a positive effect on their political participation.
