Reflecting on my learning opportunities I feel I am confident in the management and administration of medications. I am aware of best practice and the ‘rights’ of medication administration. I am aware of my own limitations in practice and I confident to ask for help when I am unsure in order to reduce the risk of a drug error. I am also confident in doing my own research to expand my knowledge using reliable sources such as the BNF. Having a good knowledge of medication management is important and an ever expanding skill as a nurse in order to provide the best and safest patient centred care. I look forward to practicing and learning more throughout the parts. In order to improve I look forward to learning how to give medications via other routes such as PEG or IV. In this assessment I gave medications both orally and via subcutaneous injection. I feel confident that I can give medication safely via these routes. However, I have not administered insulin and this is something I hope I will get the opportunity to do on my next placement.
