Interactive white boards

Gone are the days when education was imparted in black and white i.e. Blackboards and white chalks. All that children did was watch the teacher scribble away and then copy the information in their books. This was top down , passive learning with no opportunity to see the lesson come alive with illustrations, educational games or videos to support the learning. Since its been over 25 years since I passed out from school, I hadn’t the faintest inkling that learning would one day become so interesting with the Interactive white boards. The lesson last Friday with Yasmin on IWB was an interesting introduction to this amazing piece of technology where teachers could create such wonderful lessons to enhance the learning of children. I quite enjoyed creating one such activity on the SMART notebook and realised that there were so many amazing things I could do with it. I could create an activity, make it interactive, illustrative and also provide opportunities for children to use it themselves . I could also record and save the lesson and therefore use it as a method of evaluating and re structuring it after evaluation. Hence it was a great learning experience and I look forward to learning more about it to be able to use it in the best possible way.
