  1. Hey Gemma,
I enjoyed watching your vlog and found it very informative. I particularly enjoyed the variety of statistics that you included as it allowed me to gain a bigger insight into the inequalities between the genders and the increase of youth votes towards the Labour Party. In regard to the underrepresentation of women in parliament, I strongly believe that this is an issue we have to tackle socially as the patriarchal society that we currently live under, not only discourages women from attaining positions of high power but also dislikes witnessing women in power. In order for us to see more women in parliament, we will have to change social views about women’s abilities to hold these type of positions. The Labour parties appeal towards the youth is a great start to this as it allows women from the younger generations to develop an interest in politics.

    1. Hi Era,
I’m glad you enjoyed my vlog and found it informative!
I have to say I completely agree with you, our society does not like women being in positions of power and we need to tackle this. All over the world people think men will do better than women as political leaders.
Check out this article exploring international gender bias, its eyeopening for sure! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-51751915
I do think Labour’s approach of focusing on young people is great to help change the biases in society, but of course young people need to do their part also and get involved in politics. Hopefully this can create changes in the near future and allow for more women to become apart of politics and further decision making roles.

      Thanks for your comment!
