First rehearsal will consist of everyone getting together and writing random scenarios and then putting them all in a hat and having someone pick a scenario out of that hat, once everyone is aware of the scenario they will begin to improvise around the scenario with the focus of suddenly adding in the glitch of changing random words to blue and kettle, as the scene progresses I will get everyone to show an increase of the glitch more and more as they get further into the scene.
Second rehearsal I will get everyone to focus on what we have of the script. We will do a standing read through whilst taking small pauses throughout to address what everyone thinks the scene should look like physically, I’m hoping that everyone will feel comfortable adding in what they think will look good, whilst I also add in what I think would go well, we would talk through everyone’s ideas and move on to the next part. Once we have made our way through the current script. I will get everyone to read through a role and improvise their movements. I will then take notes and maybe a video of this to then look back on it and see what works best.
Third rehearsal I will run a workshop, in the workshop I will go through a exercise to help with the process of everyone’s focus for when they start to develop the scene, first exercise I will do is called “what were they wearing?” in this exercise I will get everyone to walk around with the task to get a good look at everyone else, I will then randomly stop everyone and get one person to tell me what another person is wearing whilst they are faced away to see if they took note of what it was they were wearing. This exercise helps with the development of everyone’s attention which will come in handy when everyone is learning lines so that they know what glitches come in when.
Fourth rehearsal I will use my notes and video that I previously made to start forming a section on the play, I expect everyone will have their role at this point so that I can focus on the structure of the first scene, I don’t expect everyone to know their lines yet but I do expect everyone in the scene to read through their role as we develop the movement and flow of the scene.
For the rehearsal I plan to start off with an exercise, the exercise will be help with problem solving and get you thinking. The exercise consists of everyone putting their hands in the middle of a circle and grabbing someone’s hand so you are holding two different hands in each hand, you then got to try and untangle yourself so that once everyone is all spread out you are stood around in a large circle. Once everyone has finished and is hopefully feeling more aware we will start focusing on a specific scene that is available to us, we will do this by getting everyone who is in the scene together, we will then discuss where this is set, with that information we will go over what everyone is doing in this place and why they think they are doing it. We will also go over what the surrounding are so that we can allow the characters to engage with the set correctly, which includes knowing what important props will be around and what important furniture will be around. Once we have all of that information, we can proceed in structuring the scene by working as a group and also individually depending on the plot and the characters objective within the scene. After working on it for a while I will then suggest a run of what we have just done, so that I and everyone else can see what works and what doesn’t, anything to add or takeaway, etc. we the start by doing the adding or taking away from it so that we have nice basic structure to work with.
