Support

Academic support

The transition to university life can be a personal and an intellectual challenge. Our Academic Guidance Tutors will help you settle into university life. Throughout your time at Roehampton, your AGT will provide advice and support in relation to your academic, personal, and professional development.

During your time at Roehampton, you will have opportunities to engage in the design and running of the History Programme. The Programme Convenor will seek your feedback on a regular basis. Your year group will elect a couple of student representatives who will work closely with the programme convenor to resolve any problems and to introduce changes to the curriculum to reflect student needs and concerns.

In addition to the Academic Guidance Tutor and the Programme Convenor, you will also be able to contact the Student Welfare Officer, who is available to provide you with confidential emotional and practical welfare support for any difficulty you may have during your studies – bereavement, mental health difficulties, financial hardship and more.

Welcome Week 2021

We take pride in the friendly and supportive community we have in History, and we’re busy planning a range of activities to introduce you to university-level study and to your fellow students during Welcome Week in September 2021.

During Welcome Week, you’ll have meetings with the Programme Convenor and your Academic Guidance Tutor who will introduce you to the programme and help you prepare for your first week of classes. We will show you how to use Moodle, which is the online learning platform where we upload all your essential readings, questions to prepare ahead of each class, and lecture slides. We will also introduce you to our state-of-the-art library: either on campus or by organising online tours of the library’s collections and archives.

You will also get to know other students through events organised by the History and Classics Society, as well as Roehampton Student Union.  You will have the opportunity to join one of our many student societies which cater to different interests ranging from sports, through politics, religion, and environmental protection, to photography, art, and culture.
