In todays session we explored the basics of the Cognitive Load Theory (CLT). This is the load on memory that we can take on when we are problem solving and processing information (learning). It is known that we learn at the optimum level when the information that we are given is kept at the minimum. Paas et al, (2003). I can relate to this as for me when I am reading and its a page of just text I often lose track of where I am and also I often remember the last point only. Similarly, when there is text surrounding a large image I am often distracted by the image and pay less attention to the text.
