I have never worked in a formal nursery setting conducting work/investigations for my studies, however have done so in a primary school therefore I am excited yet slightly apprehensive. I do believe this placement will give me a greater understanding as to how theory can be used in practice; generally I am excited to develop my existing skills while gaining new ones. I am aware of how most primary schools plan their days in regards to structure as it’s more of an academic setting than most pre-schools or early years setting however I am not too knowledgeable in regards to the structure of days in a nursery setting. Consequently, I am intrigued to understand and learn about this while I am on placement at a nursery, comparing ideas of what I already know through my studies, seeing what methods the practitioners and key workers use to plan the day. As I am attending (mostly) on Fridays, I am interested in seeing how practitioners and perhaps children prepare for the weekend.
